I have helped my organizations generate tens of millions of dollars in earned media coverage by building strategies centered on the marketing of top-tier, media-trained and responsive experts. In short: I’m an expert on experts.

At this time, I lead the Baylor University Media and Public Relations team’s efforts to identify, recruit and train higher education faculty experts to work with media. This includes building and maintaining a list of top-tier faculty experts; training faculty to work with reporters and provide expert commentary; pitching Baylor’s success stories to national, statewide, and local outlets; and creating media opportunities via strategic campaigns (hot topics, op-eds, pitches). I also lead Baylor’s Marketing & Communications Content Strategy Implementation Team.

I have been working in the media communications, public relations and marketing world for more than 20 years. Following five years as a newspaper journalist and editor, I moved in 2004 to higher education, where I’ve worked to advance two universities. I teach (or have taught) college courses in journalism, media writing and media law and ethics.

Additionally, am available on a freelance basis to help small businesses, entrepreneurs, churches, and nonprofits with their communications and marketing needs.
